Produce

Mildura is a major food bowl. Its irrigated agricultural land produces 95 per cent of Australia's dried fruit, 69 per cent of table grapes and 21 per cent of the country's citrus. The area also grows most of Australia's almonds, pistachios, olives, carrots, asparagus, and 21 per cent of wine grape crush.

Find out more about the local varieties, producers and industries:

Grapes and dried fruit

The Mildura region produces most of Australia's grapes, which are eaten fresh or dried and are exported to international markets.

Citrus and vegetables

Mildura is an oasis of orchards and market gardens growing citrus, carrots, asparagus, melons and more.

Nuts, honey and olives

The Mildura Region's Mediterranean-like climate and soils are ideal for consistent production of high quality olives, almonds, pistachios and honey.

Fish and Meat

Murray cod and Mallee lamb are renowned for their quality and flavoursome eating. Find out about restaurants that serve it, who farms it and where to buy it.

Grain

The Mildura Region includes over a million hectares of cultivated land where wheat, barley, canola/legumes (peas/lupins) and triticale are grown.

Murray River Salt

SunSalt is a Mildura company that is utilising the region's dry climate to turn a potential environmental problem into a gourmet food product.

Purchase fresh produce at our markets

A number of markets are held every month within the region. The Sunraysia Farmers Market is held the first and third Saturday of each month. The Red Cliffs Country Market is held on the first Sunday of every month. Meet the growers and experience our food bowl.

Organic produce

Mildura has a growing number of certified organic and bio-dynamic businesses producing wine, table and dried grapes, citrus, avocados, stone fruits, almonds and vegetables.
