Arts and Culture

Mildura is a regional arts hub with a vibrant local community of writers, artists and performers. Visit galleries to see the work of local artists as well as travelling exhibitions, see sculptures dotted around the town and call in to the Mildura Arts Centre to see a performance, exhibition or the Rio Vista Historic House.

The Mildura Sculptural Triennial was held between 1961 and 1988, attracting sculptors to the city, the legacy of which is the many sculptures located in the grounds of the Mildura Arts Centre and throughout the city. Opposite the Arts Centre is the Sculpture Park, where you can view the famous One Sun, One Earth, One Peace sculpture, part of a network of similar pieces around the world. At the equinox the sun casts a shadow through the sculptures at successive times all over the world.

As a key regional theatre the Mildura Arts Centre presents a varied annual program of the best available drama, music and comedy performances. Annual productions by a variety of dynamic local companies are a strong tradition in the theatre.

Mildura region has many significant buildings and outlying areas that exhibit features from the Art Deco period or were influenced by the style. A Mildura Art Deco Walking Tour has been developed to take visitors on a journey back in time.
