Where to stay?

Don’t think that just because you’re bringing your four-legged family member, your accommodation options will be limited.

Secure the pegs into the ground or book a pet-friendly cabin at Apex River Beach Holiday Park and enjoy 17 acres of greenspace and the city’s largest sandbar on your doorstep or secure the trailer legs at BIG4 NRMA Mildura Riverside Holiday Park, offering pet-friendly powered grass sites and ensuite sites.

For a resort-style getaway with your pup (read: lagoon swimming pool, tennis court and mini-golf), book Sunraysia Resort which offers pet-friendly two-bedroom apartments, a four-bedroom house with a private backyard or a houseboat for you and your small fur-child to relax.

Book 112 Olive Apartments so you and pooch can be less than 150 metres from the CBD in newly renovated, self-contained apartments with fully fenced courtyards.

If you want to explore the Murray River during your stay, overnight for three, five or seven nights on the water with Mildura Houseboats and navigate the waterways with your first (and best) mate at the helm.
Make sure you contact the operators direct before booking your pet-friendly accommodation to confirm availability and any special rules and conditions for your stay. For more pet-friendly accommodation options, search our range of caravan parks, hotels and apartments here.
Where to dine?

Who says your pup shouldn’t join you for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner while on holiday?
Combine your morning walk with a barista-made coffee and head to the Mildura Riverfront, where you can get their tail wagging with a puppuccino or pup cake at Bobby and Me.

Make the most of the river views and settle in for brunch at Café 1909 or Shippys Café or stretch out the paws towards the city centre to Nash Lane and enjoy brunch favourites like chilli scrambled eggs to bagels or south-west chicken for lunch.

Enjoy a meal at Stefano’s Café with your pooch by your side, and dine on a menu packed with seasonal fresh produce.

Put wine tasting on your holiday itinerary and sample the region’s finest drops at Trentham Estate Winery and Restaurant, Cappa Stone Wines or Vanden Estate.
For a meal a la casual, head to Pizza Café at The Grand for lunch or dinner and dine al fresco on wood-fired pizza, pasta, antipasto, focaccia or salads.
Where to play?

Regardless of how much energy you or Fido have to burn – there’s plenty of experiences to add to your holiday itinerary that they can enjoy with you.
Get their ears flapping in the wind as you explore the Murray River at steam power aboard Mildura Paddle Steamers, offering pet-friendly two-hour cruises twice daily. Just ensure you contact the operator when booking and advise you’re bringing your furry family member.
With Mildura and the Murray River region home to one of Australia’s key food bowls, learn about some of the fresh produce growing in the region at Orange World, where your pup can join you on the 70-seat tractor tour through the orchard.
If daily zoomies are life for your pup and you need somewhere fully fenced to let them run off steam or make local fur-iends, head to Rio Vista Off Leash Dog Park. The large greenspace is perfect for when your dog needs some leash-free time – just make sure you follow the dog park rules.
Head out for walkies in nature, a short 13km from the CBD, following one of the walking trails at Kings Billabong or enjoy a sand-between-the-paws moment at one of Mildura’s sandbars aka beaches. You’ll find Apex sandbar next to Apex Park off Cureton Avenue.
If you’re visiting over the weekend, don’t miss out on sampling the local produce at the Sunraysia Farmers Market. With so many tasty treats at nose level, this is one pet-friendly activity where you’ll want to keep them extra close by.
Other helpful hints for travelling with your pup:

While there’s plenty to do with your pooch when travelling, unfortunately, some Mildura attractions are not pet friendly, including our local national parks.

For those moments when you need to venture off without them, pet-sitting is available at Paws Resort and Riverbend Vet or stop in at the Visitor Information Centre and the team will be able to help you find a puppy day care option to suit your needs.

Get your pet looking purfect for holiday snaps and spoil them with a fresh wash, trim or blow-dry during your stay. Call ahead and book a spot with a local groomer, such as Moulin Pooch, Elizabeth Taylor Canine Clips, Jeffs Pampered Pets, Bark and Clean or Aussie Pooch Mobile Dog Wash to get them looking fresh.

If you find yourself running low on treats, toys for fido’s favourite food, you’ll find Petbarn, Pet Stock and Pet Domain located along Fifteenth Street, a short 10-minute drive from the riverfront.
